音樂盒堂 / Orgel Doh

音樂盒堂(位於小樽市)是販賣音樂盒、雜貨與飾品的公司。音樂盒堂擁有許多店鋪,位於小樽堺町通的2號館古董博物館內展示著許多歷史上貴重的音樂盒。館內也有展示1908年英國製的管風琴。管風琴演奏會一天舉行6次,可免費觀賞。佇立在小樽音樂盒堂本館前的蒸汽時鐘也是著名的觀光景點。

Orgel Doh (Otaru City) sells music boxes, high-quality small articles for everyday life, and accessories. Orgel is a Dutch word which means music box. The Antique Museum (Otaru Music Box Museum Building No.2) on Sakaimachi Street has a large display of historically valuable antique music boxes, and a pipe organ made in England in 1908. They hold a free show (several music boxes and the pipe organ) six times a day. There is also a big steam clock in front of the main building of the Otaru Music Box Museum.


北一哨子 / Kitaichi Glass

北一哨子(位於小樽市)是從事各式玻璃製品生產和販賣的公司。在北海道開拓時代小樽市是以港口都市來發展的,在當時北一哨子於小樽市開始製造石油燈,之後也生產漁業用的玻璃浮球,北一哨子便成為小樽市的代表企業。在北一哨子位於小樽堺町通的工房可以免費觀看玻璃食器、雜貨或飾品的現場製作。

Kitaichi Glass (Otaru City) is a company which makes and sells various glass commodities. When Otaru City developed as a harbor city during Japan's expansion into Hokkaido, Kitaichi Glass started to produce oil lamps, and they used glass for these lamps. They later started making glass fishing floats and became known as one of Otaru's bigger companies. Glass tableware, general goods made of glass, and glass accessories are their main products now. They have several shops in Otaru, including a shop located on Sakaimachi Street which has a studio where visitors can see the products being made right in front of their eyes.

小樽啤酒 / Otaru Beer

小樽啤酒公司(位於小樽市)雖然在小樽市郊外的錢函有主要的釀酒廠,但在緊鄰小樽運河的地點有公司所持有的啤酒吧-「小樽倉庫No.1」也有小型的釀造廠,在「小樽倉庫No.1」可以免費參觀啤酒製造設備以及聽取解說(所需時間為20分鐘)。如欲前往交通也很方便因此值得推薦。店內除了啤酒之外也有供應德式料理的餐廳。營業時間是11:00~23:00,全年無休。

Otaru Beer Inc. (Otaru City) has its main brewery in Zenibako, which is a suburb of the city. In their beer pub and restaurant “Otaru-sohko No.1” near Otaru Canal, they still brew their beer. (Sohko means warehouse in English.) There is a free informational tour about  beer making, which takes about 20 minutes. Visitors can see big kettles made of bronze and learn about each step of the production process. Otaru-sohko No.1  is conveniently located in a popular tourist spot. They are open 365 days a year, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

金融資料館 / The Bank of Japan Otaru Museum

位於小樽的金融資料館是日本的中央銀行-日本銀行的宣傳設施之一。這裏是昔日的日本銀行小樽分行。許多與金錢相關的資料被展示在此。可免費入館參觀。建築物內外的牆壁上合計有30隻的島梟(島梟世界上最大型的貓頭鷹,為北海道的原住民-愛奴人的守護神)雕刻。即使在現今的日本,貓頭鷹也被視為是種吉祥的動物而受到歡迎。

The Bank of Japan Otaru Museum (Otaru City) is managed by the central bank of Japan. This building used to be their Otaru Branch. A lot of interesting material related to currency and finance are exhibited. Admission is free. A total of 30 sculptures of Blakiston's fish owls were installed on both the inner and exterior walls. The owl has always been worshipped by Hokkaido's aboriginal people, the Ainu, as a guardian. Also, as owls are nocturnal, the bank liked them for night defense. Even now in Japan, all owl species are popular creatures which bring good luck.




出拔小路 / Denuki Kohji

出拔小路位於小樽,是個飲食店所聚集的美食廣場。其面積約為一個街區,佔地面積雖不大但內有許多提供使用北海道產食材的菜餚的飲食店。出拔小路的象徵建築物是模仿早期監視火災發生的「望火樓」的瞭望塔。瞭望塔內的展望台可以免費參觀,從展望台可以俯瞰小樽運河與海景。出拔小路內也有象徵生意興隆被稱作「UDATSU 小子」的角色銅像。

Denuki Kohji (Otaru City), is a place where you can find a number of different restaurants and bars. As it stretches over only one block, there is not that much walking to do. Hokkaido dishes using fresh ingredients grown and produced in Hokkaido can be found in many different restaurants. The landmark of Denuki Kohji is a tower called "Hinomiyagura", which means fire lookout in English. The observation deck of the tower is free to enter. Visitors can look out over the Otaru Canal and the harbor of Otaru Bay. In Denuki Kohji, Udatsu Kozou is the character of a boy who is going to be successful in business. There is a stone sculpture of him there.






運河廣場 / Otaru Canal Plaza

小樽市的運河廣場有針對外國旅客的資訊中心,有會說英文、中文、和韓文的工作人員常駐在那裏。工作人員會免費發放小樽市以及小樽市近郊的觀光地圖等導覽手冊。在運河廣場也有販賣當地食品或土特產的商店與咖啡廳,除此之外也有免費的休息區,內有椅子可休息。介紹小樽的歷史或文化的相關資料也展示在此。

The International Tourists Information Center is located in Otaru Canal Plaza (Otaru City). There are staff who speak English, Chinese and Korean there. Visitors can get free tourist maps of Otaru City and its suburban areas. Also there is a café and souvenir shop which sells local products such as food made in Otaru and local specialty goods. There is also an area with seats where you are welcome to relax, free of charge. As there are soft drink vending machines, you can have a rest after walking around sightseeing spots, and have a drink if need be. A display showing Otaru’s history and culture are exhibited there for your enjoyment.

小樽雪燈之路 / Otaru Snow Light Path (Otaru Yukiakarino Michi)

小樽雪燈之路是小樽的冬季祭典。每年的2月上旬到中旬的夜晚,在小樽運河與舊國鐵手宮線舊址等區域會由無數的雪燈來妝點。與札幌雪祭相比,小樽的雪燈之路雖然沒有大型的雪像。但由燭光和雪景相互交織而成的景色既夢幻又浪漫。從1999年開始的這個活動已成為小樽市冬季觀光最精彩的活動。

Otaru Snow Light Path (Otaru Yukiakarino Michi) is a winter event in Otaru City. Arrangements of candles are lit in major tourist spots such as Otaru Canal, and the route of the demolished Temiya railway line from the beginning to middle of February every year. Compared to Sapporo Snow Festival, it is simple and quiet and there are not many snow sculptures. The scene made with the candles in the snow, however, is magical and romantic. A team of volunteers light the candles every night. This heart-warming event which started in 1999 is surely a highlight of Otaru's winter tourism diary. You could say "awesome".

初音未來(雪未來) / Hatsune Miku (Yuki Miku)


初音未來是款虛擬女性歌手軟體(DTM軟體),其開發商是位於札幌的克里普敦未來媒體公司。只要輸入歌詞和旋律,軟體的虛擬歌手初音未來就會演唱你所輸入的歌曲。初音未來作為虛擬歌手其粉絲遍及全球,並且在札幌雪祭期間以所謂的雪初音的名號活躍於會場中。初音雪像以及相關周邊商品也很熱門。
 
Hatsune Miku is a DTM (Desktop Music) character developed by Crypton Future Media, who have their headquarters in Sapporo. Users can choose song lyrics and a melody, then the virtual character Hatsune Miku, sings their song. Nowadays, there are a lot of fans all over the world. They acknowledge the character as if it was a real person. During the Sapporo Snow Festival, Hatsune Miku's presence gives added glamour to the world-famous winter event with her special name "Yuki Miku"; which means "Snow Miku" in English. Her snow sculpture and character merchandise are popular too. In addition, Yuki Miku's special live concert is held in Sapporo during the festival.

札幌雪祭 / Sapporo Snow Festival

札幌雪祭有大通公園、薄野(SUSUKINO)、TSUDOME等3個會場,在這些會場內展示著許多雪像和冰雕。小型的雪像(2×2×2公尺)是由市民所製作的(只有經過抽選的市民團體才可製作雪像)。雪像的主題多是著名的角色或反應當年的時事居多。關於大雪像的製作,除了專門的團體以外,日本自衛隊也有參與大雪像的製作。在雪祭期間也會演出各種精彩節目。

Sapporo Snow Festival is held over three sites: Odori Park, Susukino, and Tsudome. You can see a lot of snow and ice sculptures. Small snow sculptures (2 x 2 x 2 meters) are made by residents of Sapporo. There are many applicants for the chance to make a snow sculpture, but only those who win the ballot can participate. Each sculpture has its own motif, and popular characters and the current social conditions are often represented. Large sculptures are made by special groups of residents, and Japan’s Self‐Defense Forces. During the snow festival, different shows such as ski-jumping and music performances are also held.

歷史上價值的古蹟 / Historical structures

小樽市內有73棟建築物被指定為具有歷史上價值的古蹟。現今雖然北海道的金融據點是位於札幌市,但往昔是小樽市擔任此任務。往昔做為銀行、倉庫、店家、住宅、寺廟等的建築物在小樽被保留了下來。許多建築物經過修補或改建後仍持續使用至今。從JR小樽站或南小樽站徒步即可遊歷這些建築物,大多是免費參觀的。

In Otaru City, 73 old buildings are designated as historical structures. Hokkaido's economic and financial center is now Sapporo, but it used to be Otaru. There still remains old buildings which were used as banks, warehouses, shops and stores, residences of the ruling class, churches and temples. Most of them are used now as shops, museums and the like after repair and restoration. It is possible to visit many of these historical buildings by walking from Otaru Station or Minami Otaru Station. Most of them are free to enter, and it is of course free to see the exterior facades.
